ABOUT ME
Mateo Miller Law Clerk within the Environmental Department.
Mateo is a student at the University of San Diego School of Law, where he serves as a staff writer and comment author for the San Diego Journal of Climate & Energy Law and has prior professional experience in employment law, environmental litigation, and policy analysis.
Before law school, Mateo earned a master's degree in international relations from USD, focusing on international energy and security issues, including nuclear energy development and critical mineral supply chains in Latin America. His work with the Institute of the Americas allowed him to engage with policymakers, industry leaders, and academic experts on cross-border energy policy and investment, giving him a comparative perspective that he continues to apply in his legal studies. Through his academic and professional pursuits, Mateo has developed a strong foundation in research, writing, and client advocacy. He has worked on matters ranging from federal environmental statutes and wage-and-hour litigation to international investment frameworks, honing skills in legal analysis, drafting, and cross-cultural communication.
Outside of law, Mateo is an avid surfer and hiker who enjoys spending time outdoors along the California coast and in the mountains. He also has a passion for traveling and exploring new cultures, which informs both his personal outlook and his professional focus on international energy and environmental issues.
