Press Release

Los Angeles Tattoo Artist and Studio Sued for Sexual Assault, Battery, and Negligence

Meagan Verschueren, Counsel at Singleton Schreiber, was featured in a Singleton Schreiber press release titled “Los Angeles Tattoo Artist and Studio Sued for Sexual Assault, Battery, and Negligence,” published on January 5, 2026.

In the release, Verschueren comments on a lawsuit filed against tattoo artist Luis Vargas and Vargas Body Art Howling Winds Studio on behalf of a Jane Doe plaintiff. The lawsuit alleges that Vargas sexually assaulted the plaintiff during a tattoo consultation at his studio in Chatsworth, California, and asserts claims including assault and battery, sexual battery, negligence, false imprisonment, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The release outlines allegations concerning professional misconduct and violations of legal and ethical standards in a commercial setting, as well as claims for compensatory and punitive damages under California law. The lawsuit also raises issues related to institutional accountability and the legal remedies available to survivors of alleged sexual assault.

“Not only is my client left to recover with the physical and emotional trauma from this event, but she is also left with permanent reminders of her assault in the form of unwanted tattoos,” Verschueren said.
