ABOUT ME
Kathy Shallow is the Director of Nursing at Singleton Schreiber. She is excited to leverage her rich experience to aid the clients of our firm.
Kathy’s career started in 1981, when she worked as a registered nurse working in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Kathy was later recruited by San Diego Children’s Hospital for the position of staff nurse, followed by assistant manager of their PICU. Her time here made her fall in love with San Diego (and she is still here, 38 years later!).
Her work in management led to a position as an analyst, working directly for the Senior Vice President of Planning and Research and, later, Quality and Risk Management. Through those years, she worked closely with Risk Management, administrative experts, and clinical experts in developing protocols to treat patients.
In 1992, Kathy and a risk management colleague started a small consulting practice in San Diego called Medical Litigation Services (MLS). MLS consulted on both the defense and plaintiff sides of catastrophic injury cases. On the defense side, MLS had hospital clients, wherein Kathy consulted on sentinel event investigations and medical malpractice claims. For plaintiff attorneys, MLS reviewed potential cases and provided a similar risk analysis as well as a litigation plan regarding medicine. She has made a handful of career changes but continues to make an impact at Singleton Schreiber.
When not working, Kathy enjoys gardening, cooking, pickleball, and traveling.
