Case Results

Zachee St. Vil, et al v. City of San Diego. Lawsuit against the City of San Diego
lifeguards for the drowning of an 18-year-old at Mission Beach.

Joseph Lopez, et. al v. City of San Diego. $4.8 million settlement after trial for the
family of victims of a pedestrian v. auto collision on a City of San Diego street.

Jennifer Welsh v. Mission Grove Office, LLC. $1.253 million verdict against an office
complex after a woman fell through a second story floor.

  • Domenic Martini, Senior Counsel, and Karlie Ruder, Associate Attorney, of Singleton Schreiber secured a settlement in Rogillio v. Mach One Air Charters, a wrongful death airplane crash case. The firm represented the daughter of a man killed in a crash caused by negligent aircraft maintenance.

The case centered on allegations that the aircraft was not properly maintained, directly contributing to the fatal incident. The settlement reflects Singleton Schreiber’s commitment to holding negligent parties accountable in complex wrongful death matters.

  • Singleton Schreiber secured a $250,000 verdict on behalf of a man who suffered severe burns to his leg and hand after a lithium-ion battery inside of a vaping device exploded while in his pocket. As a result of his burns, he spent seven days in the hospital and missed weeks of work. While defendants argued that the court did not have jurisdiction over the case to get it dismissed, Singleton Schreiber attorneys prevailed, providing him with sufficient funds to restart his life after his injuries.

  • Domenic Martini, Senior Counsel at Singleton Schreiber, secured a $500,000 policy limits settlement on behalf of Frank and Donna Plasso in a contested auto accident case. Throughout litigation, the defense and insurance company disputed both liability and the extent of the plaintiffs’ injuries.

Despite those claims, the evidence demonstrated that one client sustained a traumatic brain injury and the other suffered a significant spinal injury, both with lasting consequences. As trial approached and the strength of the medical and liability evidence became clear, the defense tendered the full $500,000 policy limits one week before trial. The result reflects the firm’s commitment to pursuing full recovery in catastrophic injury cases.
