Climate Change

Singleton Schreiber is litigating claims for climate caused harms resulting from the alteration of the climate by rampant fossil fuel production and the purposeful and knowing deception of these harms by the fossil fuel industry.  Currently, the firm is pursuing actions in Colorado highlighting the over 90 percent increase in fossil fuel combustion, which has led to pestilence, crop damage, increased wildfires, and increased infrastructure costs.  Fossil fuel deception has also led to severe weather systems that have caused flooding and have damaged water resources.  The altered climate has also damaged the physical landscape, changed farming practices, and caused significant economic losses.  The Firm’s cases have survived two challenges through the U.S. Supreme Court.

The companies that produce, sell and promote fossil fuels knew about the impact on the environment and the damage it would cause to natural resources, but concealed it from the public in pursuit of billions of dollars in profits.  One of the primary impacted areas is Native American communities who have seen an increase in flooding, loss of land base due to rising sea levels, and the erosion of native flora and fauna, fires, drought, infrastructure impacts, erosion of lands affecting crop production and damage to culturally significant sites.  Singleton Schreiber has created a team focusing solely on the negative impact on Native communities and is at the forefront of pursuing actions to remedy the harm caused by fossil fuel companies.
