Press Release

Singleton Schreiber is proud to welcome Robert O. Saunooke as Senior Counsel, leader for the Tribal Litigation practice, and a member of our Climate Change Litigation practice. Mr. Saunooke will lead the firm in multiple litigations on behalf of tribes, including the national litigation seeking compensation for individuals and tribes tragically harmed by the Native Boarding School System and the firm’s litigation concerning damage to tribes and tribal lands due to our altered climate and other environmental damage.

Robert is a citizen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and has been practicing law for over 30 years. Over his career, Robert’s practice has focused on representing Native American tribes, their members, and litigating Native American issues. He has also been steeped in advocating for better federal and state policy on behalf of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida, the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and other tribes across the country.

At Singleton Schreiber, Mr. Saunooke will continue his representation of Native American tribes, protection of their rights and land, and securing justice for tribal members.

“Rob adds invaluable knowledge of tribal law and experience in representing Native Americans,” said Gerald Singleton, Managing Partner of Singleton Schreiber. “The issues facing tribes across the country are severe, and Rob has intimate knowledge of the communities and concerns they have. We’re so glad to have him join the firm with his years of experience and for him to continue working to obtain justice for Native people unduly impacted by preventable injustices.”

“I look forward to continuing my lifelong work of representing Native people and protecting our rights in this country,” Mr. Saunooke said. “I believe strongly in the rights of all people across this country and will continue to advocate for the Native American community and hold those accountable who choose to harm or take advantage of Native peoples’ rights.”
