Singleton Schreiber and Babin Law Files Lawsuit Against Motel 6 and Wyndham Hotel Brands Alleging Sex Trafficking in King County
SEATTLE, WA – A federal lawsuit has been filed on behalf of a Jane Doe survivor who was sex trafficked at multiple hotel properties in King County, Washington, operated under the Motel 6 and Wyndham brands. Singleton Schreiber and Babin Law, on behalf of the plaintiff, alleges she was harbored and repeatedly exploited at two Motel 6 locations, 16500 Pacific Highway South in Seattle and 20651 Military Road South in SeaTac, and at three Wyndham-branded properties in Kent including the Hawthorn Suites, Days Inn, and Ramada, between approximately 2015 and 2016. This lawsuit adds to the firm's growing practice of hotel sex trafficking litigation in the Seattle metropolitan area.
The complaint names G6 Hospitality entities and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Inc., Wyndham Hotel Group, LLC, and Days Inn Worldwide, Inc., along with several property-level franchisee operators, including Lala Salama Hospitality, Inc., 2000 Investors, LLC, Richard & Partners, LLC, and SHK Group, PLLC. The lawsuit asserts that all defendants knowingly benefited from and facilitated the plaintiff's trafficking in violation of the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA). The plaintiff seeks compensatory and punitive damages for the severe physical, psychological, and financial harm she suffered.
The complaint details how traffickers used rooms at each of the named properties as a base of operations to harbor and sell the plaintiff for commercial sex, rotating her between the locations, staying for days or weeks at a time. It alleges that hotel staff and management observed or should have observed unmistakable signs of trafficking, including men parading in and out of rooms, cash-only nightly payments, and visible signs of abuse, but failed to intervene, report the activity, or implement basic anti-trafficking protocols, despite the availability of industry training and guidance for years prior.
"These hotels did not just look the other way but they provided the infrastructure that made the trafficking possible," said Kristina Aiad-Toss, counsel at Singleton Schreiber. "Room by room, night by night, they collected revenue while our client was being violated and sold by her traffickers. Motel 6 and Wyndham had the power, the knowledge, and the contractual authority to demand their properties address this. They chose profit instead. We intend to hold every entity in this chain accountable."
The suit alleges that both brand-level defendants and property-level operators are jointly liable for the plaintiff's damages. Wyndham is specifically alleged to have made repeated public statements condemning human trafficking while simultaneously failing to enforce anti-trafficking standards at its franchised properties and, in 2020, appearing on the National Center on Sexual Exploitation's "Dirty Dozen List" for its long-running facilitation of sexual exploitation.
The complaint further notes that G6-branded properties in the same geographic area have been the subject of multiple prior lawsuits involving sex trafficking survivors. Washington is one of the top states in the country for reported human trafficking cases, and the pattern of litigation tied to these specific corridors reflects what the firm describes as systemic, not incidental, failures by the hotel industry.
