Brian Colón, managing partner at Singleton Schreiber in New Mexico and former state auditor, was recently featured in a Tao News article on March 7th, 2024 which covered a tax provision in New Mexico designed to exempt fire victims from additional taxes on legal services who are seeking compensation for losses caused by the Hermits Peak-Calf Canyon Fire. Colón welcomed this development, stating,"I'm very pleased that the legislature decided that those individuals who opted to hire attorneys will not have a gross receipts tax implication on that transaction... And that makes me very happy. It's the right outcome."
