Singleton Schreiber LLP filed suit against Nationwide on behalf of the Greer family, a family that suffered property disturbances and damage from the Eaton Fire. This Suit alleges that nationwide withheld payment from the family to the family. The Greer family seeks payment for medical expenses, emotional distress, and punitive damages resulting from alleged bad faith practices.

The Family faced an array of challenges in the wake of the Eaton fire and claimed the Insurer delayed payments for over a month after the fire was fully contained. Each member of the family suffered from emergent respiratory issues following the fire. The suit also alleges that the insurer required an exuberant amount of information from the family and placed multiple hurdles in the way, even when all documentation was delivered.

Michelle Meyers, a Partner at Singleton Schreiber, said “a massive corporate entity, is knowingly taking advantage of a vulnerable party…” as the insurer continues to dance around paying back victims of the fire. The lawsuit against Nationwide was filed in the California Superior Court.
