Brian Colón, Managing Partner of Singleton Schreiber’s New Mexico offices, was recently featured in the Rio Rancho Observer in an article titled “Bernalillo Public Schools signs onto social media addiction lawsuit.” In the article, Colón discusses his firm’s representation of Bernalillo Public Schools in a nationwide lawsuit alleging that major social media platforms have harmed students’ mental health.
Colón explained that the litigation seeks accountability from companies like Meta, Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube for knowingly developing harmful algorithms that prioritize profits over children’s well-being. “They put their profits ahead of our families' safety and well-being because the profits were more important than people,” Colón stated. With over 200 school districts now involved in the case, Bernalillo Public Schools joins a growing coalition demanding structural changes to social media platforms and access to mental health support for impacted youth.
