Paul Starita will be specifically addressing the topic: "Who Can Bring a Claim for Property Damages – Owners vs. Renters,” as part of the National Trial Lawyers Association (NTLA) segment of the session.

He will be speaking alongside a variety of prominent and highly experienced attorneys who are actively shaping the future of wildfire litigation. Together, they will share critical insights and strategies aimed at securing justice for individuals and communities impacted by California wildfires.

This session will examine key aspects of wildfire litigation in California, including:
- Anatomy of a wildfire litigation case and how it proceeds
- Evaluating fault for the Eaton and Palisades Wildfires
- Theories of liability, including inverse condemnation
- Who can bring a claim—owners vs. renters
- Navigating first-party claims and subrogation issues
- Understanding how the California Wildfire Trust Fund work

Paul Starita brings more than 29 years of trial experience to the discussion. He leads the Litigation Practice Group at Singleton Schreiber, where he litigates a wide range of cases including personal injury, fire, mass torts, and more. Prior to joining Singleton Schreiber, Mr. Starita served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for over 18 years, handling high-stakes civil and criminal cases in federal court. A retired U.S. Marine Colonel and current adjunct professor at the University of San Diego School of Law, his extensive background includes leadership roles in environmental compliance, constitutional torts, and national security matters.
