Sarah Weinman

Sarah Weinman serves as Counsel in Singleton Schreiber’s Motions, Writs, & Appeals practice group. A seasoned appellate attorney, Ms. Weinman is dedicated to advocating zealously for her clients and pursuing justice on their behalf. 

Early in her career, Ms. Weinman clerked for the Honorable Robert M. Dow, Jr., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. She then litigated civil cases in the federal courts of appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at the National Immigrant Justice Center. Following her fellowship, Ms. Weinman spent a decade working as a public defender at the Federal Defender offices in San Diego and Minneapolis-Saint Paul, representing indigent clients at the trial and appellate levels and publishing a chapter on appellate advocacy in the treatise, Defending a Federal Criminal Case.    

Ms. Weinman is barred in California, New York, and Minnesota and is admitted to practice in state and federal courts in California, Illinois, Minnesota, and New York.   

Ms. Weinman earned a bachelor’s degree in history of religions from Reed College in 2000 and a Juris Doctor from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2009. While in law school, she worked at Mayer Brown and at the Federal Defender’s office in the Southern District of New York; she was a member of Berkeley Law’s Death Penalty Clinic and the California Asylum Representation Clinic.
