Sacramento - Singleton Schreiber welcomes seasoned litigator and former lead defense counsel of the tragic Ghost Ship incident, Michelle Meyers, to its Sacramento office as Senior Counsel.
Michelle brings nearly 20 years of experience as an attorney to the firm and will be a crucial member to the Public Entity Environmental Practice Group aiding in ongoing Per- and Polyfluorinated Substances (PFAS) litigation. She will also help lead the Sacramento’s offices’ efforts in the areas of Public Entity, Environmental Litigation, and Personal Injury.
Formerly, Michelle served as a deputy attorney for the State of California’s Department of Transportation in Sacramento. Throughout the duration of her time as a deputy attorney Michelle advised and mentored attorneys, provided policy analysis, and advised on government tort claims and processes. Michelle also served as a member of the Statewide Tort Committee and as a member of the Safe Systems Task Force.

Her knowledge of complex litigation and her ability to resolve eight and nine-figure lawsuits, is an impressive feat.
Notably, Michelle received wide recognition for her role as lead defense counsel in the Ghost Ship incident which took place on December 2, 2016, in Oakland, CA. The matter arose from a fire which resulted in the tragic death of 36 individuals. Michelle served as the lead in-house defense strategist for the City of Oakland in both criminal and civil matters.
