San Diego County in California has agreed to pay $1.1 Million to settle a lawsuit over a 16-year-old boy who died from a drug overdose.  Kimberly Hutchison, Partner of Singleton Schreiber, represented the boy's family in this case alleging negligence by the juvenile facility for the wrongful death of the boy.  The facility did not take the proper provisions in handling the boy's placement, which allowed him access to drugs, and eventually a drug overdose.  His death was not discovered until several hours later, yet it is procedure for probation officers at the facility to check on tenants every 15 minutes.
