Knut Johnson, Partner at Singleton Schreiber in San Diego, was recently featured by WWLTV in their article, "Roseland Farmer Faces Hardships After Smitty's Explosion, Worries Grow over Future Health Risks" which was published on September 10th, 2025.
The article covers the recent explosion at Smitty's Supply plant in Roseland, LA where several environmental lawsuits are being filed by residents affected by the explosion at a Smitty's Supply plant. Environmental experts have confirmed concerns about short-term air exposure, the presence of non-volatile oils on the ground, and reported metals in soil samples.
Addressing the uncertainty his clients face, Mr. Johnson stated:
"They've had toxins dumped all over them, and there's a real uncertainty when that happens about what the future holds for them in terms of their health. We're going to try to figure out exactly what the toxins were because some have been connected to clearly with certain types of diseases including cancer."
WWLTV noted that one of Mr. Johnson's clients is a farmer who lives three miles from the explosion site. The farmer's hay was poisoned, and he was forced to relocate his livestock. Mr. Johnson highlighted the need for a lengthy cleanup process, as the contaminated ponds and grass remain unfit for the animals.
