KSBW Action News 8

Knut Johnson, Senior Counsel at Singleton Schreiber in San Diego, was recently featured by KSBW Action News 8 during its news segment, "PG&E Faces Community Backlash and Lawsuit Over Moss Landing Battery Plant Reopening", which was published on June 4, 2025.

The article covered a press conference held by Mr. Johnson on behalf of Moss Landing residents following the battery fire outbreak at the Vistra plant earlier this year and PG&E's subsequent decision to restart its battery plant.

"It was poorly thought out. It was poorly planned. And like the plant itself next door, Vistra, it was poorly executed and ultimately didn't work," said Mr. Johnson who later added, "There's some irony to the fact that they reopened right before we got here, and then they shut it down right away, so what we hope to accomplish is more eyeballs on that issue. The fact that they had to shut the PG&E plant down right away doesn't mean it's all good. It means we should pay more attention because they're going to try again

The segment also highlighted the mass action lawsuit filed by Singleton Schreiber against Vistra, PG&E, LG Chemicals, and Granite Construction. This lawsuit addresses the significant damages residents have faced, including health issues, anxiety, and lost property and business value, in the wake of the fires. Additionally, Mr. Johnson's firm is conducting groundwater baseline sampling to identify heavy metals and potential hazards to the community, with study results expected within six months to a year.

KSBW closes by noting that a hearing is scheduled for June 10th in federal court to determine whether this lawsuit will be settled in state or federal court.
