Knut Johnson, Senior Counsel at Singleton Schreiber in San Diego, was recently featured by ABC7 News in their article, "PG&E Addresses Fires at Vistra's Moss Landing Battery Plant Amid Lawsuit from Businesses".

The article covers the recent statements made by PG&E in a recent virtual town hall where they maintained that they were not responsible for the Moss Landing Battery Fire which broke out on January 16th, arguing that Vistra was responsible for the ownership & operation of the plant and that PG&E had sold the battery fire plant in 1998.

PG&E's statement was in direct response to the environmental lawsuit filed by Singleton Schreiber on behalf of over 60 business owners and residents against PG&E, Vistra, and other companies in Alameda County in February 2025.

Knut Johnson clarified Singleton Schreiber's position on why PG&E remains responsible in their own recent town hall, which was also joined by environmental activist, Erin Brockovich.

". . .[W]e think they do because of the contracts they've entered into that are publicly filed with Vistra, filed with the California Public Utilities Commission. And PG&E had the right to as it appears to us to have a say in the design to the Vistra plant," Mr. Johnson said.

"In every single situation I've been involved in a community member will document something eight, nine months down the road that changes everything," said Ms. Brockovich who recommended to residents who reported health issues since the fire to continue to be vigilant, to notate for any notable things about the plant, and to continue to speak on the impact it is having on the environment.
