Knut Johnson, Senior Counsel with Singleton Schreiber in San Diego, was recently featured by ABC News in their article, "Moss Landing Battery Plant Fire: Environmentalist Erin Brockovich, Residents File Lawsuit" which provides an overview of the recent lawsuit filed by Singleton Schreiber & Erin Brockovich against Vistra, PG&E, LG Energy Solution, and other entities on behalf of residents who continue to be concerned in the aftermath of the 2025 Moss Landing Battery Plant Fire

According to the environmental lawsuit filed in Alameda County, these companies were negligent in their use of thermally unstable batteries, for using an outdated water suppression system, and knowingly overcrowded their lithium-ion batteries in an enclosed space. The plaintiffs argue that these contributed to the fire and exposed residents to toxic chemicals that have since increased their risk to illnesses including shortness of breath, difficulty in blood testing, and tasting metal.

Additional highlights include mentioning the recent town hall held by Erin Brockovich and Singleton Schreiber where they explained the lawsuit, how others could join, how the case this was a mass tort and not a class action, and the importance in urging residents to continue to advocate for their health and push for necessary testing.

From Mr. Johnson: "Be your own best advocate. Go to your doctor and tell them you’ve been exposed to the smoke and heavy metals, you want to be tested, and you want your insurance to pay for it. The more people that advocate, the better."
