Ebony Griffin-Guerrier and Laura Singleton, Counsels at Singleton Schreiber, were recently featured by the Mississippi Free Press in their article, "Mississippi Crossing Pipeline Set to Span 10 Counties, Deadline to Intervene is Aug. 5," published on August 1st.

The article covers Ms. Griffin-Guerrier and Ms. Singleton's urging of Mississippi citizens to file a motion to intervene in the construction of the Mississippi Crossing Project, a planned 208-mile natural gas pipeline, before an August 5th deadline. The project is anticipated to begin in January 2027 and is an extension of the South System Expansion 4 Project, spanning over 10 counties from Greenville, MS, to Butler, AL.

Ms. Griffin-Guerrier emphasized the critical nature of the upcoming deadline:

"After August 5th, if citizens don’t intervene in that process, then they are kind of out in terms of the right to formally challenge the actual construction of the pipeline. It preserves your right to challenge the pipeline in federal court and receive information about the pipeline project moving forward."

Ms. Singleton underscored the benefits of intervention, noting the potential long-term environmental impacts of the pipeline's construction and operation:

"Just in the construction process, you can potentially have soil degradation, you can have any sort of damage to the environment around that. It can damage ecosystems because (they are) having permanent right-of-way. . . If you file an intervention now, it doesn’t mean you have to challenge it later. If people file now, they can just leave it at that, but it does preserve their right to do more in the future should they want it."

Ms. Singleton affirmed the firm's commitment to assist communities in the process, saying:

"At Singleton Schreiber, we’re here to help communities fight for what’s right and for what’s best for them. We stand with the community and if anything comes up, and they need any help at all; they can reach out to us in the Jackson office."

The article notes that Mississippians can file a motion to intervene in the construction of the Mississippi Crossing Project by the August 5th deadline by visiting the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) website and entering docket number CP25-514-000.
