Gerald Singleton, Managing Partner at Singleton Schreiber in San Diego, was recently interviewed by KSBW Channel 8 Action News in their article, "Lawsuit Filed Against Vistra and PG&E Over Moss Landing Battery Facility Fire".

The article summarizes the recent environmental lawsuit filed against Vistra Energy, PG&E, and other utility companies by Mr. Singleton and famed environmentalist Erin Brockovich over the 2025 Moss Landing Battery Fire.

According to the lawsuit (filed on February 2nd in Alameda County), the defendants were negligent, reckless, and failed to act in preventing the release of toxic chemicals from the burning of lithium-ion batteries which continue to endanger the health of the surrounding community. The plaintiffs are seeking compensation on behalf of the impacted residents, demand a full investigation into the cause of the fire, and to push for the adoption of updated safety standards and fire prevention measures throughout the industry. 

"This fire is a wake-up call for the energy storage industry,” said Mr. Singleton who added that, “Communities living near these facilities deserve better safeguards, transparency, and accountability. Energy sustainability should never come at the expense of public safety.”

Ms. Brockovich continued by saying, “This is yet another example of corporate negligence putting profits over people. Time and again, we see companies cut corners on safety, only for communities to suffer the consequences. We will not stand by while families breathe in toxic air and worry about the long-term health effects of this disaster. They deserve transparency, justice, and real protections."
