This session, presented in collaboration with the ACLU of New Mexico, will provide a practical framework for filing and litigating immigration habeas corpus petitions. Marisa Ong and Alex Flores will join Rebecca Sheff (Senior Staff Attorney, ACLU of New Mexico) and Emma O’Sullivan (Immigrant Rights Staff Attorney, ACLU of New Mexico) to share insights on challenging unlawful detention and strengthening advocacy for immigrant communities through federal habeas proceedings.

The 2025 Immigration Law Institute, hosted by the Center for Legal Education in partnership with the Immigration Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico, brings together practitioners, advocates, and experts for a half-day program addressing key topics in immigration law and practice.
